PET TRANSPORT INFORMATION
IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER
Animal wellbeing during transport.
HELP 4 PAWS ARE REFERRED TO BELOW AS “H4P”
We prioritise your animals' well-being in everything we do. Our duty of care to your animal while in transit ensures it will arrive at its destination healthy and happy. Every pet has a unique personality. Some are prone to stress and anxiety, while others are happy to travel without any issues at all.
“H4P” prides itself on ensuring your pet has adequate facilities while being transported, somewhere they can lay down, get comfortable and not be cramped up. The custom fit-out of our ambulance allows us to accommodate animals of any size, something we are proud to have achieved.
Long-distance trips.
On long-distance trips, we can arrange for your animal to be fed when they have their scheduled exercise breaks. We have two options for feeding during transport. Our preferred option is for the owner to provide pre-prepared individual servings labelled with the pet's details. Alternatively, we can provide quality feed for all the pets travelling with us. We can also provide veterinary-approved dry food to cater for many different diets and needs.
Exercising.
On long trips, breaks will be made for canines to exercise to help prevent boredom and for toileting. The owner must notify “H4P” if they do not wish to have their pets exercised.
All pets will have access to fresh, clean water during their transport, and with our climate-controlled heating and air conditioning in the back of the van (designed for humans), your pet is sure to always be comfortable.
Vaccinations
Through our service, a pet may encounter other pets in transit or while being exercised in a public area. Vaccinations ensure the pet is protected from infectious illness or disease. Pets will NOT be transported without proof of vaccination. "H4P" will NOT be held responsible for any illness or disease contracted by either vaccinated or non-vaccinated pets. The owner is responsible for ensuring their animal is protected and vaccinated.
Sedation
Our sedation policy requires animals not to travel while sedated; the only exception to this rule is if a Vet can provide a valid reason for the pet being sedated. The Vet must supply details about the type of sedation given and the dose administered. "H4P" can NOT be held liable for any complications arising from the need to sedate an animal while being transported. If required, our vehicle is fitted with OXYGEN, and the dose will be determined in consultation with the Vet. We also have pulse/oxy meters on board for use if required.
Extreme weather policy
Extreme weather may cause issues for our pet passengers. While water is available during the trip, hot weather can quickly dehydrate animals. On extreme weather days, we will endeavor to travel throughout the cooler parts of the day. Brachycephalic breeds will not be picked up for travel at the scheduled time if the temperature is expected to exceed 32 degrees. Other arrangements will be made. All our vehicles are air-conditioned for the comfort of the animals.
